Family Therapy

Family at Breakfast

Real families deserve real support.

Families come in all shapes and sizes — and so does family therapy.

Family therapy may include parents, stepparents, children, adolescents, siblings, grandparents, extended family members, or anyone who plays a significant role in your family system. Most commonly, we work with parent-child pairs, parents and children together, or small family groups, but every family is unique.

Whether you're hoping to improve communication, navigate conflict more effectively, strengthen emotional regulation, or simply build a healthier foundation before challenges arise, family therapy offers a supportive space to grow together.

Areas We Commonly Support

Family therapy can help with:

  • Communication and conflict resolution

  • Child and adolescent behavioral concerns

  • Emotional regulation

  • Strengthening parent-child relationships

  • Sibling conflict

  • Blended family and co-parenting dynamics

  • Separation and divorce

  • Grief and loss

  • Medical illness or disability

  • Welcoming new family members or launching young adults

  • Building stronger family connection, belonging, and resilience

What Can I Expect From Family Therapy?

Every family is different, so therapy is tailored to your family's unique needs and goals. Sessions may include the whole family, smaller family groups, or individual meetings with parents or children when appropriate.

For younger children, we often incorporate play-based interventions because play is a child's natural language. Through storytelling, art, games, puppets, movement, sand tray, and other creative activities, children can express emotions, develop coping skills, improve communication, and process difficult experiences in ways that feel safe and engaging.

Parents remain an important part of the therapeutic process. We regularly provide guidance, support, and practical strategies to help you better understand your child's emotional world and strengthen your relationship at home.

When families participate together, therapy focuses on improving communication, deepening emotional connection, strengthening relationships, and creating healthier patterns that support the entire family long after therapy ends.
